Recap: Nashville vs. Columbus

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Taylor Beck had a goal and an assist as the Nashville Predators took a 5-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

Shea Weber, David Legwand, Matt Halischuk and Roman Josi each had a goal for the Predators, who have won their past two after dropping four straight. Pekka Rinne made 21 stops in the victory.

"We forechecked well, we had a lot of detail to our game, we had a lot of jump, and we kept them in their end pretty well," Preds head coach Barry Trotz said.

Artem Anisimov and R.J. Umberger each had a goal for the Blue Jackets, who had a three-game winning streak snapped and had recorded a point in a franchise- record 12 straight contests heading into the game.

Sergei Bobrovsky had a rough game for Columbus, as he gave up four goals on 11 shots before being pulled halfway through the first period. Steven Mason stopped all 12 shots he faced in relief.

"We need everyone on top of their game, and we didn't have everyone tonight," said Columbus coach Todd Richards. "That's what happens when you don't."

Nashville came alive in the first period with four goals separated by 3:04.

The first goal came at the 7:11 mark when Beck skated in down the right wing and snapped a wrister into the net for his first career goal.

Skating on the power play, the Predators made it a 2-0 game on Weber's one- timer from the left circle off a pass from Bobby Butler at the 8:21 mark, but the Blue Jackets got one back 1:08 later on the man advantage as Umberger scored when he jammed the puck in from the right side.

Nashville, though, answered just 17 seconds later when Beck sent the puck out front and Legwand got it home for a 3-1 lead.

It took just 29 seconds for the Predators to take a 4-1 lead as Halischuk's snap shot from the left wing fooled Bobrovsky, who was then pulled from the net.

The Jackets got the only goal of the second period to make it a two-goal game after Anisimov's turnaround shot from the left circle hit off the stick of Mike Fisher and went in at the 14:53 mark.

Columbus, though, was unable to get any more in and Josi's empty-netter inside the final minute capped the scoring in the game.
