Recap: Dallas vs. St. Louis

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - David Perron registered two goals, including the game-winner, and an assist, as the St. Louis Blues edged the Dallas Stars, 4-3, at American Airlines Center.

Chris Stewart and Wade Redden also tallied for the Blues, who improved to 4-1-0 on the season. Jaroslav Halak made 20 saves.

Michael Ryder, Tomas Vincour and Ryan Garbutt scored for Dallas, which played without Jaromir Jagr (back) and Derek Roy (groin).

Cristopher Nilstorp, making his second NHL start, departed in the third period with a groin injury after allowing four goals on 29 shots. Kari Lehtonen stopped all three shots he faced in relief.

Jagr, Roy and Nilstorp are all day-to-day.

The Blues scored three times in the second period, erasing a 2-1 deficit.

Perron circled the Dallas cage and stickhandled around a Stars player before beating Nilstorp and tying the game at 10:51.

St. Louis grabbed the lead with its forecheck. Stewart scored after Patrik Berglund outworked Dallas defenseman Trevor Daley for the puck along the boards and fed him for a one-timer at 16:32.

Perron struck again with 16 seconds remaining.

"I thought Perron was head and shoulders the best player on the ice," said Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock.

Garbutt lit the lamp 2:24 into the third period, but the Stars were unable to complete the rally.

"I think the second was our downfall," said Stars forward Brenden Morrow.

Redden put the Blues up 1-0 5:31 into the game with a one-timer from the point past a screened Nilstorp.

Vincour answered 26 seconds later by banging home his own rebound. Ryder broke the tie on a power play, potting his 200th career goal at the 12:40 mark of the first period.

Game Notes

Redden last scored an NHL goal on March 18, 2010 ... The Stars have played five consecutive one-goal games to begin the season.
