Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins signed defenseman Mark Eaton to a one-year deal worth $725,000 on Monday.

Eaton signed to a professional tryout contract by the club earlier in the month, and he totaled one assist in six games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in the American Hockey League before being released on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old posted one goal and four points with a minus-17 rating in 62 games for the Islanders last season.

Eaton was part of Pittsburgh's back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals clubs in 2008 and '09, helping the Pens win in the latter season. He has totaled 24 goals and 85 points in 627 games for the Flyers, Predators, Penguins and Islanders since 1999.
