Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils on Wednesday placed forward Dainius Zubrus on injured reserve and recalled forward Andrei Loktionov from Albany of the American Hockey League.

Zubrus has missed the past four games with an upper-body injury. Devils general manager Lou Lamoriello would not reveal the specific nature of Zubrus' injury.

However, it appears that surgery could be an option.

"We're putting Zubrus on IR. We're still not sure how long it will be," Lamoriello said Wednesday. "We'll have more knowledge of that over the next 48 hours."

Zubrus has one goal and three assists in nine games this season.

The Devils acquired Loktionov from the Los Angeles Kings last week. He has seven goals and seven assists in 59 career games with the Kings.
