Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils announced that forward Adam Henrique will have thumb surgery on Thursday.

Henrique damaged his left thumb in an American Hockey League game this past Sunday for the Albany Devils against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Following the procedure to repair a damaged ulnar collateral ligament, he is expected to be sidelined for 4-to-6 weeks.

Henrique was a Calder Trophy candidate last season after totaling 16 goals and 51 points in 74 regular-season games and posting five goals and 13 points in 24 playoff appearances.

Thus far, he has tallied five goals and three assists in 16 games for Albany.
