Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Mathieu Darche has decided to hang up the skates. Literally.

Darche, 36, a free agent who has yet to play an NHL game this season, released a brief message on his Twitter account on Tuesday in both French and English, stating, "Time to make it official! Moving on to second career," along with a picture of his skates hanging on hooks.

A native of Quebec, Darche totaled five goals and 12 points in 61 games for the Habs last season.

Over an 11-year pro career with the Blue Jackets, Predators, Sharks, Lightning and Canadiens, he totaled 30 goals and 72 points in 250 contests.
