Alameda, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Raiders have reinstated linebacker Rolando McClain after the team suspended him two games for conduct detrimental to the team.

While McClain is back on the 53-man roster, he is not required to return to the team until he meets with head coach Dennis Allen, who was in Texas for his father's funeral on Monday.

The Raiders also announced the promotion of cornerback Chimdi Chekwa from the practice squad. In order to make room on the active roster, the club released cornerback Ron Bartell and fullback Owen Schmitt.

Bartell signed with Oakland in March after a seven-year tenure with the St. Louis Rams but was limited to just six games by a shoulder injury. The 30- year-old finished with 18 tackles and four passes defensed.
