Recap: TCU vs. Southern Utah
Fort Worth, TX (Sports Network) - Kyan Anderson scored 21 points and dished out six assists as the TCU Horned Frogs held off the Southern Utah Thunderbirds to pick up a 61-52 victory in a non-conference bout at Daniel- Meyer Coliseum.
Devonta Abron added 17 points for TCU (6-2). Adrick McKinney pulled down a team-best seven rebounds as the Horned Frogs picked up their second win in a row.
Damon Heuir paced Southern Utah (1-5) with 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor. Jayson Cheesman contributed nine points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks in the losing effort.
TCU held a narrow edge on the scoreboard for majority of the opening half by shooting 50 percent from the field. The Thunderbirds went into the intermission trailing 31-28 despite converting only 11-of-29 field goal attempts.
Southern Utah refused to quit and took a 38-37 lead with 10:49 left in regulation after Heuir sank a pair of free throws. TCU answered immedietely as Anderson found Abron for a go-ahead layup. The Horned Frogs then scored six unanswered points to build a more comfortable lead which they grasped onto until the final buzzer.
Despite the loss, the Thunderbirds held a 36-29 advantage in the rebounding battle.
