Recap: Illinois State vs. Northern Iowa

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Jackie Carmichael had 16 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks, lifting the fourth-seeded Illinois State Redbirds over the fifth-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers, 54-42, in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.

Nic Moore and Bryant Allen each had eight points for the Redbirds (19-12), who haven't won this tournament since 1998.

Illinois State will next play top-seeded Wichita State in the semifinals on Saturday.

Johnny Moran ended with 13 points for the Panthers (19-13), who beat Illinois State in the 2009 title game. Jake Koch donated nine points and eight boards.

Northern Iowa shot just 25.5 percent from the field and went 7-of-23 from three-point range.
