Recap: Maine vs. Marist

Orono, ME (Sports Network) - Chavaughn Lewis poured in 24 points as the Marist Red Foxes upended the Maine Black Bears 77-71 as part of the BracketBuster series at Memorial Gym.

Devin Price added 16 and Isaiah Morton and Manny Thomas each chipped in 10 points for Marist (11-16) which has won four of its last five. Adam Kemp led the team on the boards with nine rebounds.

Gerald McLemore scored 20 points and Mike Allison had a matched 12 points with 12 rebounds for Maine (11-15). Justin Edwards netted 12 and Raheem Singleton finished with 11 points as the Black Bears lost their fifth straight.

The Red Foxes dominated the first half shooting 51.6 percent including 5-of-9 from three point range while holding the Black Bears to 34.4 percent as Marist led 39-27 at the half.

Maine improved to 45.2 percent shooting in the second half and outscored the Red Foxes from three point range (15-9) and the free throw line (11-9) and trailed just 67-64 with 5:25 remaining. Marist then went on a 7-0 spurt to put the game out of reach.

Marist took a 37-34 advantage on the boards although Maine collected more offensive rebounds (13-6) and outscored the Red Foxes 13-1 on second chance points in the losing effort.
