Recap: Brown vs. Columbia
Providence, RI (Sports Network) - Sean McGonagill paced six players in double figures with 28 points as the Brown Bears upended the Columbia Lions 94-78 in an Ivy League matchup at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Jean Harris scored 17 points, Stephen Albrecht had 13, Matt Sullivan and Dockery Walker each put in 12 and Andrew McCarthy chipped in 11 points and 12 rebounds for Brown (8-21, 2-10 Ivy League) which ended an eight game losing streak.
Brian Barbour finished with 18 points to lead Columbia (14-14, 3-9) which also got 15 from Mark Cisco, 13 from Alex Rosenberg and 10 from Meiko Lyles. The Lions have now lost their last five.
Brown's offense erupted in the first half thanks to a stellar 10-of-15 effort from three point range to go with 55.2 percent shooting overall. With Columbia limited to just 39.3 percent and 2-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc the Bears led 43-26 at the half.
The Bears led by as many as 19 in the second half as they heated up to 60.9 percent shooting in the final twenty minutes.
Brown was the superior team on the boards outrebounding Columbia by a 34-25 margin.Game Notes
