Recap: South Carolina vs. Tennessee

Columbia, SC (Sports Network) - Trae Golden scored 21 points to lead the Tennessee Volunteers to a 73-64 win over the South Carolina Gamecocks in Southeastern Conference action at Colonial Life Arena.

Jordan McRae scored 16 points for the Vols (16-13, 8-6 SEC) who have won six of their last seven. Jeronne Maymon added 14 points, while Cameron Tatum grabbed nine rebounds.

Bruce Ellington scored 19 points for the Gamecocks (10-18, 2-12) who dropped their eighth game in their last nine starts. Malik Cook scored 17 points, including the 1000th of his career. He also collected 10 rebounds. Brenton Williams finished with 11 points.

Tennessee led 34-32 at the break after shooting an even 50 percent from the floor. South Carolina shot just 34.4 percent from the field.

Tennessee stayed hot after halftime, shooting 55.6 percent from the field. The Vols were also 16-of-20 from the floor after halftime.

Tennessee prevailed despite 21 turnovers. The Vols shot 52.2 percent from the field and 50 percent from long range.
