Cincy, don't hold your breath. It's bad enough people have to worry about getting killed by other COUNTRIES, it's sooo gotten to where we can't trust ANYBODY in our own either. So what makes us any different than the people IN those other countries? Because we speak English? No.

The whole idea of "hate crime" is bogus. Orwell called it "thought crime". Establishing classes of people who get extra protection under the law flys in the face of our concept of "equal protection under the law" and in some cases "free speech". Justice is always portrayed as being blindfolded for a reason. Special treatment under the law is injustice. Murder,rape, and assault are all just as heinous regardless of the identity of the victim. In the last edition of Cincinnati race riots,over 200 whites were assaulted by blacks ,simply because they were white. Not one of the perps was charged with a hate crime. ONE Black man was assualted by 2 white idiot thugs ,who were of course charged with "hate crimes". When one considers that whites are 81 times more likely to be assaulted by someone of a different race than blacks,the whole "hate crime" business is a carnival of racism and injustice directed against whites.

I don't see how anyone can make the argument this was not a hate crime. These two clearly targeted the man because he was gay. Sounds like the jury practiced don't ask, don't tell in regards to the motive. They portrayed the "Three Wise Monkeys". I see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil.

Do you honestly think that a jury in LONDON, KENTUCKY, would find some young white country boys guilty of a hate crime against a gay fellow. Think again. They will not. Their bringing up is totally different. Living the gay/lesbian lifestyle is wrong period in their eyes and those of their parents and grandparents and great grandparents. Be glad they were found guilty of kidnapping the young man. They culd have been found not guilty at all.

Zookeeper, if this would have been over race or religion they would have been sent to prison. Hate crimes against sexuality is still accepted in some parts of the country. One day people will wake up and stop hating everyone who may be different than them. One day....

Souds to me like the "jurors rejected the argument" because they didn't give a chit that they attacked the guy. Because he wasn't related to any of them.
