erBROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) - Three members of a northeast Ohio family are dead after a shooting rampage at a family restaurant in Brooklyn on Thursday night.
The deadly shooting happened a little before 9 p.m. inside the Cracker Barrel in that city, which is in the Cleveland area. Police tell CBS affiliate WOIO-TV that a man shot and killed his wife, teenage daughter and shot and wounded a second daughter inside the restaurant. The juvenile female was transported to the hospital. Her condition is not known.
"We were standing right next to him when he shot them," said witness Robert Lovlace. "He was a troubled man, you could see in his face. When the gun went off, we saw the fire come out, we ran, we took off."
Brooklyn's Chief of Police says the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. The department received a 911 phone call from a woman at the restaurant. She stated that she had just informed her husband that she was leaving him and he wasn't taking it well. She stated that he was in his car and kept circling the lot.
When cops arrived, they heard gunshots in the restaurant and saw the suspect exiting the restaurant through the front door holding a long gun. Officers ordered him to surrender, but he did not comply and was shot. Police reportedly exchanged fire with the gunman before killing him.
The investigation is continuing.
