erBROOKLYN, OH (WOIO) - Three members of a northeast Ohio family are dead after a shooting rampage at a family restaurant in Brooklyn on Thursday night.

The deadly shooting happened a little before 9 p.m. inside the Cracker Barrel in that city, which is in the Cleveland area. Police tell CBS affiliate WOIO-TV that a man shot and killed his wife, teenage daughter and shot and wounded a second daughter inside the restaurant. The juvenile female was transported to the hospital. Her condition is not known.

"We were standing right next to him when he shot them," said witness Robert Lovlace. "He was a troubled man, you could see in his face. When the gun went off, we saw the fire come out, we ran, we took off."

Brooklyn's Chief of Police says the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute. The department received a 911 phone call from a woman at the restaurant. She stated that she had just informed her husband that she was leaving him and he wasn't taking it well. She stated that he was in his car and kept circling the lot.

When cops arrived, they heard gunshots in the restaurant and saw the suspect exiting the restaurant through the front door holding a long gun. Officers ordered him to surrender, but he did not comply and was shot. Police reportedly exchanged fire with the gunman before killing him.

The investigation is continuing.

This is where our criminal justice system needs an overhaul. If you commit murder in a public place, with numerous non-related witnesses: You don't get an appeal to any sentence, including death penalty (If you don't get shot by cops). Exit the courtroom and go straight to the execution chamber.

ccook1115; it's already happening, Haven't you heard of all the priests abusing boys from their flock? It's likely this man has shown some hint of violence in the past and if so, in my humble opinion and albeit the most gutless way to do these things, she should have done this over the phone from an unknown (to him) location.

legal alien, it's pretty sad if society has the mindset that going out in public isn't supposed to be safe. It is supposed to be safe.

There are messed up people out there. Anyone who would get distraught enough over a relationship breakup to commit violence was not really ever "in love", but instead was psychologically addicted to the other person. That person becomes the drug. When the "drug" stops working, the addict freaks out.

Roscoe, that is exactly why people pass along bad news while in public; hoping that the recipient of the bad news will restrain their emotions in a public place. Didn't work very well for this woman, sadly.
