CLEVELAND (AP) - A woman sentenced to stand at the curb with an embarrassing sign for driving on the sidewalk past a stopped school bus has served out the second half of her two-hour punishment.

The sentencing judge, unhappy that Shena Hardin was smoking and texting during Tuesday's hour, had planned to personally supervise the defendant Wednesday.

But Judge Pinkey Carr sent word that she had changed her mind. Court spokesman Ed Ferenc says Carr gave no reason.

The judge had ordered Hardin to stand with a sign reading, "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."

Hardin wore headphones and ignored passers-by Tuesday. The judge told WKYC-TV she felt Hardin wasn't sufficiently holding up the sign and was "missing the point."

Perfectly healthy people on government assistance should have to hold a sign before they get the check.

She should drive the school bus with the children she passed and their parents with the sign over her head showing from the back and the front. Then go to jail for 90 days.

What about schoolbus drivers who speed? I've seen it too many times! This woman is no different than them! I've seen schoolbus drivers put childrens lives at risk many times with reckless driving! They usually don't get caught unless they kill a few kids!

The best thing you could do for her is to take away her license for at least a month. NO DRIVING PERIOD.

I think the sentence is a GREAT idea, but, it should be for a LOT longer than 2 hours! I wish Judges in Hamilton Clownty had the balls to sentence people to things like this!

I just figured out why the judge did not show up. It is a batman kind of thing. Shena and Judge Pinky Carr can't be in the same place at the same time, just like batman and Bruce Wayne. Look up Judge Pinky Carr on the Cleveland city web site. They look like twins, or is it the same person? You be the "judge". http://clevelandmunicipalcourt.org/judicial-services/meet-the-judges/judge-pinkey-s-carr

She should have been made to ride on the bus for at least a month to get a better understanding of the time and effort it takes to get these special needs kids on and off the bus. This woman is selfish and arrogant and I have no doubt we'll be seeing her in the news again doing something just as stupid. I just pray nobody gets injured as a result.
