A retired Oregon businessman is now the proud owner of a 50-year-old bottle of Glenfiddich Scotch whiskey, that only cost him the small fee of $27,000.
Lyle Shellenberg's love of scotch began decades ago when he toured a distillery with his grandfather.
Shellenberg is actually one of only six people in the entire country to purchase one of the 50 bottles of Glenfiddich Scotch released worldwide each year.
"I could have spent money on a sports car or something else, I just happen to like Glenfiddich Scotch," Shellenberg said. "And this was interesting to me, it was different. It's not something somebody down the street or someone else in Oregon has."
So what did 27 grand buy Shellenberg?
In a locked leather case rests the hand crafted bottle and in that bottle- a batch of scotch that spent half a century aging to perfection.
Lyle plans to drink it sometime in the next year at a special event with his family.
