BELLBROOK, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in southwest Ohio say they don't think drugs or alcohol played a role in a weekend crash that killed three high school students and injured three others.

Family members of the Bellbrook High School students told The Dayton Daily News  that the teens were coming back from picking up one of their classmates from a party early Sunday.

Shortly afterward, the truck left the road and crashed into a tree, killing 14-year-old Julianna Hawk, 17-year-old Sophie Kerrigan and 16-year-old Skylar Kooken. The other three students in the Dodge extended-cab pickup were injured, with one still in serious condition Monday.

The force of the collision uprooted the full-grown tree and buckled and mangled the truck. The accident remains under investigation.

It was not 3am! It was just after 12:30 and these kids were helping a friend in need out. They were going 50 in a 45 mph zone. Our community is greiving the loss of 3 beautiful girls and praying for a full recovery both physically and emotionally for the 3 survivors. Please dont judge others when you clearly dont have your facts straight. There are still may unanswered questions we have and even with time we may never get the answers we seek. Please keep our community in your thoughts and prayers. Thank you!

So very sad. I am sure speed was a factor and they paid a very high price. Condolences.

If not drugs and alcohol, what about speed? from the looks of the truck, I would think speed was a factor. Can't believe that many sets of parents would allow these young people out at 3:00am driving with that many other young kids in the vehicle. very irresponsible in my opinion.

So sad...may the children rest in peace and may their parents try to deal with their loss as best as they can. It is so sad to see so many lives lost to this crash. RIP all and a speedy recovery for the other's that were injured.

Condolences to everyone involved in this terrible tragedy. Their lives are forever changed and it only takes seconds for such an accident to happen. We should all be mindful (young and old alike) that each day is a gift and things can change in an instant. God bless these young people and their families and friends.

What were these kids doing out at 3:00 AM? A 14 year old? Should have been home with her parents. So should the others. 3:00 AM? Sorry for this loss. Sure hope the others are okay. Their lives will never ever be the same. My God have mercy on these families and this entire community. Wonder if we as parents will learn lessons from this.

Yep and a 14 yr old girl. So sad that kids, in this phase of their lives, seem to have to pay for their mistakes so heavily :(
