A woman held up at knifepoint fights her attacker back after she said she was fed up with a rash of local crime.

Kim Desfosses of Union Township was held up on December 7 as she was leaving her job at the Cherry Grove Kroger on Beechmont avenue. She said a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt approached her and asked if she wanted to buy an iPod.

"I said 'No, and I don't think you should be peddling your goods either,'" said Desfosses. "Then he said, 'Just give me your money,' and then he pulled out a little bitty knife, but it was still a knife."

Desfosses told Local 12's Adam Clements the two began to scuffle and when the man started to reach for her purse, she fought back.

"I don't know where it came from, but I thought, 'Get him back. Scratch him. Go for his eyes,'" she said.

She said the altercation did not last long, but he did get away with her purse. She lost credit cards, a small amount of cash, and her brand new camera.

Union Township authorities said the robbery is one of many recent robberies, although the previous robberies that have taken place in the parking lot are not connected to Desfosses'. They said the circumstances and description of the suspects are completely different.

Desfosses said she's on high alert for now, but she's earned a nickname from her grandchildren since the incident: Kung Fu Grandma.

If you any information that could help authorities identify the suspect, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040. You can text "CINTIP" to "CRIMES," or 274637. You will always remain anonymous. You can also submit your tip online at http://crime-stoppers.us/.

I had my wallet stolen out of my purse at this kroger back in October... Definitely left me sad that i cannot even go grocery shopping safely. I try to be a positive person and give back, but stuff like this makes it very difficult...I was lucky enough that nobody physically harmed me, but the emotional toll is pretty bad. I refuse to go shopping by myself anymore..

Ladies when you can put your purse in the cart and use the child seat belt if you can. Makes things so much safer when it has the belt. Merry Christmas.

That is amazing with the technology we have today that they have crappy cameras that produce blurry pictures. I am glad she is ok, and hope that he gets cauht before he does something worse.

I saw this on the news last nite.. they were saying that purse snatching is on the rise & how most of us don't pay attention when we are out & about.. that we need to be more alert & keep our valuables closer to us. I can't tell you how many times I see ladies at the grocery store & they have their purses in the shopping cart UN attended! I want to approach them & remind them to be more careful, especially this time of the year!

It would be nice, since she scratched him, if they were able to get evidence from her fingernails and maybe match it up. Or is that too CSI? lol. Awesome lady!
