An assault suspect from Alabama lead officers from Butler and Hamilton Counties on a wild chase Tuesday night. The pursuit finally ended with the man giving up-and then being bitten in the leg by a police dog.
West Chester officers were called to the Marriott Hotel on Muhlhauser Road for a report of an assault on two workers around 11:45 p.m. Investigators said when they arrived, the man suspected in the attack-Len Allan Jones of Birmingham, Alabama, got into an SUV and took off.
A Sharonville police cruiser camera caught what happened next. It appears Jones rams the cruiser, then takes off, leading officers on the chase for the next 20 minutes over 30 miles. The man drove on the Norwood Lateral and then got onto I-71 north. As he tried to exit onto I-275 west, he hit stop sticks.
Officers say Jones kept driving on damaged rims and shredded tires but eventually he had to pull over. A police dog bit the suspect on the leg. He was taken to Bethesda North Hospital. He will go to West Chester to be jailed.
Jones is now facing charges of resisting arrest, assault, failure to comply along with multiple traffic offenses including operating a vehicle while intoxicated and reckless operation.
