SPRING GROVE VILLAGE - At least two people were injured in an explosion at a hazardous waste management facility on Spring Grove Avenue early Friday morning.
Emergency crews blocked off the road near Environmental Enterprises, Inc., in the 4600 block of Spring Grove Avenue.
The explosion happened around 3:45 a.m. When the fire department arrived, they discovered a small fire but said there was lots of smoke. Investigators tell Local 12 the sprinkler system put out a lot of the fire. Crews also applied foam to put out the fire.
Two people were transported to the burn unit of the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. One person is listed in critical condition and the other is in stable condition.
Two other employees in the building at the time of the explosion have been accounted for and are okay.
According to EEI's website, the company specializes in industrial and hazardous waste management and disposal, industrial hygiene sampling, and waste water treatment.
