EATON - Ohio State Highway Patrol Troopers are reporting a Columbus man is facing felony drug charges when 2.5 kilos of heroin were found in his rented car.
Troopers stopped a rented 2012 Dodge Charger with Florida registration on Tuesday afternoon for an unsafe lane change violation on I-70 in Preble County.
They said 23-year-old Juan Carlos Arcos was driving without a valid license. A drug sniffing canine alerted the authorities. Officers initiated a probable cause search, where they discovered the heroin concealed in the false bottom of a piece of luggage.
The heroin is valued at more than $370,000.
Arcos is charged with possession of heroin, a first-degree felony and possession of crimina tools, a fifth-degree felony. He was also cited for driving without a valid license and making an unsafe lane change. He's currently in the Preble County Jail.
If convicted, he could face up to 11 years in prison and a up to a $22,500 fine.
