A group of teenagers are suspected in a series of daytime burglaries, committed when they were skipping school. Tips are coming in to police as they investigate the daytime break-ins in Madisonville. Local 12's Deborah Dixon has more information about the clues in this Neighborhood Crime Alert.
All the burglaries have been within blocks of each other here in Madisonville. Nine homes have been broken into in a month when no one is home. It's almost as if the burglars know who is working and who is not. Word is, one teen is leading the gang of thieves.
Detective Stephanie Bellamah, Cincinnati Police: "When I talk to victims, they tell me who it is, I don't have anything, need eyewitnesses, people who are buying, know where this stuff is going."
Picture this, teenagers in the middle of the day, when they're supposed to be in school, walking around with laptops, flat screens, and video game consoles, and nobody thinks it's odd enough to call.
Tom Eppens, Citizens on Patrol: "I know, not doing it because they don't care, I think they just don't think about it."
"Crime occurs where people don't care, we need to tell everybody we care about Madisonville, find out what's going on with these kids and have it taken care of."
Eppens said residents at home during the day should check on the neighborhood, and call the cops if they see something weird, like a teen carrying a t.v. down the street.
