The man who stabbed a local prosecutor and her brother was sentenced today. And the court showed no mercy, sending James Terry to prison for 21 years, the maximum sentence.
Terry admitted to attacking 32-year-old assistant Butler County Prosecutor Kelly O'Keefe and her 27 year-old brother, Danny on May 6th in the O'Keefe family's home in Fairfield. Both brother and sister were flown to University Hospital where they spent several months recovering.
Investigators say Terry is Kelly's ex-boyfriend. He once worked with the clerk of courts. Danny O'Keefe was also a lawyer in the prosecutor's office. The case had so many personal connections, the court appointed a special prosecutor.
Today, Terry made a tearful apology to the victims. But his apparent remorse did not sway the judge, who gave him the maximum sentence.
