For the fifth year straight, Washington, D.C. topped the nation in the number of people moving in.
The findings are the result of United Van Lines' latest annual migration study.
Rounding out the top five places people moved to in 2012 are: Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Kentucky and West Virginia were the two southern states that appeared on the high outbound list.
