MILFORD - Smoke filled the hallways of a Milford retirement community early Wednesday morning.
Investigators say they found a smoldering fire at the bottom of a trash chute at the Sem Villa One retirement community on Mound Street just before midnight.
Firefighters quickly took the burning material outside.
Crews had started to evacuate residents inside, but let them stay in their rooms as they cleared the smoke.
