Personally I won't waste my money on this circus. I choose to go the Shrine Circus at the Cincinnati Garden's in town this year April 12th, 13th and 14th. This way I'm getting to enjoy the circus while giving back to my community by supporting an organization that benefits the Shriner's Hospitals for children. They always have a carnival outside for the kids, free parking and discount tickets. I've gone the past 3 years in a row and they have the only 3 ring circus in town. So if going to a circus appeals to you, this is where you should go. Just sayin.

No, I was not a trainer for Ringling Brothers. The link refers to a former trainer. Also note that Ringling Brothers was fined for animal abuse: From a Columbus Dispatch article: "For one of the most beloved traveling circus shows of all time, many fans were surprised to learn about the USDA fine seeking 270-thousand dollars against the owner of the Ringling Brothers Circus. Back in 2011 the company agreed to pay the fine to settle allegations about breaking federal, animal-welfare laws." Simply put, animals are afraid of fire. Why would a tiger jump through a burning hoop?

The only way to stop it is to boycott it and/or protest it.

Actually the worst thing about any of this is that it's taking place in the former Riverfront Coliseum. Five name changes and uncounted owners haven't improved the facility or its reputation. I'd much rather go to Cincinnati Gardens.

knoll911, killing babies and mistreatment of animals are both important issues and both are wrong. I don't think it's a good idea to compare them against each other. Both need examined and both are important. I'm sad over both issues, but I understand what you are saying.

Riiight, we worry about circus trainers whipping animals, but let's just overlook the 3000 babies that will be KILLED today because they are considered an inconvenience to someone.

Wow Cincygirl82! You really trained animals for RB&BB Circus? That sounds like it would be a really cool job.

I agree 100% with cincygirl82. All elephants in captivity are abused in order to get them to perform. what do they have to do to all the other animals to get them to perform.
