COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - Police in central Indiana say a 5-year-old boy spotted a deceased man's body inside a building at a former car lot.

Columbus police Lt. Matt Myers says the boy was playing Sunday at the former Wright's Auto Sales location when he looked inside the building and saw a body face down on the floor. The boy's parents called police, who had to have firefighters pry open the door that had been locked from the inside.

Myers tells The Republic  that the 59-year-old man appears to have been dead for some time and that foul play wasn't suspected.

Myers says the man's identity has been confirmed but wasn't being immediately released.

I just wonder why there is almost no local news on this site lately.

This is, word for word, the same article on other news sites. There is no real information as to why the child was at the lot. He may not have been 'playing'. He & his family might have been walking down the street & cut through this lot. Columbus isn't a big city, and I've never seen anyone let their 5-year old play alone there. I live close to the area and am in Columbus all the time. Some news reporter made assumptions because of a lack of real information. What is really important is hoping the child isn't traumatized by what he saw; hopefully he won't remember this after a nap and some cartoons.

earlschieb how are you going to take this incident and make a blanket statement about all people of Indiana?

Sounds typical for Indiana, nobody even bothered to look for him, or report him missing.
