NEWTOWN - Authorities are working to determine the cause of a fire at a Newtown restaurant that sent flames shooting through the roof and caused significant damage.
It happened at Laszlo's Iron Skillet at Church Street and Valley Avenue just before 1:00 a.m. on Friday.
A fire chief on the scene said the fire started in the kitchen and it took about 40 minutes to bring the fire under control.
Most of the damage was contained to the kitchen, with some damage in the dining area.
The fire chief said the damage estimate has not been determined.
No one was in the restaurant at the time of the fire, and no firefighters were hurt.
