A man will spend ten years behind bars for shooting his roommate repeatedly with a bow and arrows. Harry "Bo" Spivey was sentenced this morning in Hamilton County Court for his attack in Elmwood Place.

Spivey shot his roommate Doug Stacey three times with the bow at their apartment on Beech Street in the early morning hours of September 7th.  Spivey left Stacey for dead and fled the state.  He was picked up about 30 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.  He apparently drove until he ran out of gas and money, then knocked on the door of the farmhouse and told the owner to call police because he'd killed his friend.  He also made statements indicating the bow was still in his car.

Police say Stacey was trying to kick Spivey out and Spivey didn't want to go. Police think Spivey shot Stacey in the back while he slept on a couch. He was shot a second time in the back and once in the hand as he tried to protect himself.
Stacey suffered a punctured lung and other injuries but did survive.

The ten year sentenced was the maximum allowable under Ohio law.  He did apologize in court but the judge said his apology didn't appear to be genuine.  His victim, Doug Stacey, told Local 12, "I was glad he got 10 but I thought he should have got more for all the arrows he put in me. I think he should have gotten 10 for each arrow."

Spivey will get credit for the 82 days he's already served. Once he's out, he'll be put on probation for five years.

Something still stinks about this story.... Victim says I raise my little girls but was luck I just took her home earlier Sunday, your shot three times, then you play dead and no one still knows why this happened, somethings just dont ring true with this whole deal...

A bow and arrow is for killing deer. He should have used a car to run him over, that would have done the trick. my son killed a deer sunday with my car that is now totaled (son ok) Just thinking the car would have worked better. Oh well I'm glad the guy survived, he now has a cool story to tell and his so called buddy has 10 yrs to live free on us.

The lesson here is that if you come back to your apartment sometime and you find that your roommate has installed a deer stand in your living room, BE SUSPICIOUS.

Three times? Isn't that kind of like getting run over by a steamroller?

I hope he has had a tetanus shot recently. Those arrowheads look a little rusty.

I knew Bo Spivey years ago, knew his whole family. Bo was always a hell of a nice guy. Something more to this story for him to do this. I was friends with him and his brother John for many years and I know Bo as a good person. Sometimes good people do bad things.
