Kentucky Highway 20 at Highway 8 in Boone County near Constance will remain closed until further notice because of a mudslide earlier this week. A section of the hillside slid into the roadway early Tuesday morning. Kentucky Highway workers immediately closed the roadway and estimated it might reopen by the end of the week.
However after closer assessment, workers decided it will take several weeks to clear the amount of debris from the highway. During this time motorists should look for alternative routes.
Workers first notice problems in the area early Tuesday monday before daybreak. They heard the trees popping and cracking and decided to evacuate from the area. They returned later to find the slide.
