@davmoses.. Read the first comment in this thread..It has NOTHING to do with whether folks are gun rights supporters..What it DOES have to do with is "IRRESPONSIBLE" gun owners causing tragic consequences for their stupidity and carelessness..Nothing more, nothing less... Leave the rest of us out of your rant...

Zookeeper, the father is 100% to blame, not the 9 year old boy at all. I own many guns. I have three children in the house. I DO NOT leave a loaded gun within there access, ever! Further more, I don't leave a round chambered in a Glock without a safety, but that's personal prefernce. IMO, if you have a gun without a safety, you should only have a round chambered when it's holstered. I carry daily, I do chamber a round, my carry gun has a de-c0cker and safety. When I am at home, I remove the round from the chamber. My children are small enough that they cannot yet physically chamber a round in a semi auto gun if they tried. it's also extremely important to teach your children gun safety, AND to take away all curiousity! I DO allow my children to handle my firearms under my supervison. I also tell them anytime they want to look at or handle a firearm, just let me know. I then use these instances to further preach gun safety to them. My 5 year old knows gun safety almost as well as I do. Recently my wife got a new revolver. My 7 year old wanted to see it. The first thing I did before handing it to him was check to see if it's loaded. The first thing he did when I handed it to him, was check to see if it's loaded. He keeps the muzzle pointed in a safe direction at ALL times wether or not it's loaded. IF you are going to own firearms you MUST respect them! You MUST teach your children the same! AND you CANNOT trust children, no matter how well you think they are trained.

What do we expect in a country where people want everyone to have as many guns of any kind, anywhere, anytime? I bet his parents are big "gun rights" people....

@gps- plain and simple, you don’t want a Glock don’t buy a Glock. You want a safety on a Glock then don’t chamber a round!

Does anyone know how you release the safety on a Glock? A: You pull the trigger. Dumbest idea in firearm design since the invention of gunpowder.

[Local 12's Rich Jaffe has a look at what investigators believe may have led to this terrible accident.] There is no such animal as "accidental" shootings or firearm discharges, it matters not the position of the ignorant who would forward such a gross non sequitur. "Unintended" shootings and firearm discharges are the result of "negligence. It was so nice back in the olden days when words meant things...

They knew the kid liked the gun,I'm sure they told him NOT to mess with it. A NINE yr. old is NOT a baby. And because he DID like the gun and dosen't do what he's told, they should've had it put away. The fater said "it's usually empty, but not THIS time " yeah, right. The fault belongs to the father AND the boy.He knew it wasn't a toy.

This negligence is very similar to a woman with a masters degree taking the doughnuts but leaving the baby in the Mercedes Benz crock pot. She got off. This guy wont. Both should do time.

...and yet another component to the list of folks that should NOT be allowed to own guns - Irresponsible jackwads - especially the ones that delude themselves by claiming to be a 'parent'. GRRRRR :(
