Interstate 75 in the area of the Turfway Road exit in Florence was shut down in both directions early Thursday morning in the construction zone.
Somehow, wires were strewn across the road due to a mistake by crews, according to Boone County Dispatch.
The accident happened around 1:30 a.m.
Duke Energy responded and the interstate reopened around 2:35 a.m.
However, there were long backups as tractor-trailers and cars exited the road near the Burlington Pike/Route 18 exit and redirected.
Dixie Highway in Florence and Erlanger had a heavy stream of semis traveling on the road.
