Hamilton Police says it appears a man killed his son and then himself in a possible murder-suicide on Tuesday night.
Authorities were called to the 60th block of Chamberlin Drive near Smalley Boulevard around 9:25 p.m. Tuesday night. A family member had called 911 to say he'd found his father, 57-year-old Robert Johnson, dead on the floor with a gunshot wound to the head.
Police later discovered his son, 33-year-old Scott Johnson, in a closet. He suffered several gunshot wounds to the side. Officers say they are still not sure who shot whom, but a phone call made to 911 by Scott Johnson's girlfriend makes it seem as though the father shot the son. She told a dispatcher, "I was on the phone with my boyfriend and he started screaming and crying on the phone and I didn't know what was wrong and then I heard gunshots. Is that where he lives? That's his dad's house and he said his dad freaked out on him earlier."
Police said the incident is being investigated as a murder-suicide, but did not know a motive.
