FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Republican Gary Moore has been endorsed by the anti-abortion group Northern Kentucky Right to Life heading into next month's 4th District congressional primary.

That endorsement could sway religious conservatives who make up a sizable voting bloc in the expansive district that runs from the Louisville suburbs to Ashland.

The group praised Moore, the Boone County judge-executive, for reversing a local health department policy to dispense contraceptives to teenage girls.

Moore faces six others in the GOP primary: Lewis County Judge-Executive Thomas Massie, state Rep. Alecia Webb-Edgington, Crestwood teacher Brian Oerther, Fort Mitchell business consultant Tom Wurtz, Erlanger lawyer Marc Carey and Crestwood building contractor Walter Christian Schumm.

They've running for the seat now held by the retiring Republican U.S. Rep. Geoff Davis.

The primary election is set for May 22.

I guess it never fails to amaze me just how many men fail to comprehend the change in a woman (or teenage girl's) life when they have a child. "Give it up for adoption!" Sure, that's easy, right? Doing adoptions, I have yet to meet a female, young, of age, married, unwed, who said, "I can't wait to get this over with--where do I sign up so I can get on with my life." But, interestingly enough, many "fathers" to these unborn children have already moved on and are making babies with other girls and women, left and right and have no interest or concern about the mother of their child nor the child itself. The day a man goes through the emotional ride (both good and bad) of pregnancy, complications to their bodies, choosing work over staying at home, and then actually GIVES birth, I'll stand up and listen to ANYTHING they might have to say about abortion, adoption or birth control--until then, it's all just opinion.

cpt spaulding-i dont know who are addressing in your confusing comment, but your missing the point. would you rather your child have access to birth control or have unwanted children or an abortion? this is not disney land and all children are not all wanted children. in my line of work, ive seen 14 yr. old girls pregnant with their 2nd child. this is reality and yes, their lives and their parents lives are devastated. are kids responsible enough to go buy rubbers? get real. its funny that the people who talk adoption, have never adopted in their life. there is a record number of pregnant teens and its people like you who want to keep options away from them, like affordable birth control. i said..."ruin her life when shes faced with an unwanted child..."OR" call her names..." i never said her life was ruined because someone called her names.IDIOT, get it right. i usually dont get this mad, but its people like you that dont get out much and dont see the big picture that pi##es me off. even if she chooses adoption, this is not also devastating? alot of this could be avoided if teens have access to affordable birth control which is what this moron is trying to take away. against abortion and birth control- geeez, some people!

Isnt this the guy who calls himself a Republican, but who likes to tax and then spend like a drunken sailor?

He creeps me out on SO many levels, least of all his holier than thou stance on birth control pills. Boone County schools don't teach abstinence only programs, so disallowing bc pills to be distributed is just so...passive agressive. Like all these men who champion these causes.

A scary thing, but evidently, more and more children are being 'murdered' after they are born, lately...and most others are NEVER adopted, because folks just do not adopt fast enough to keep up with the "no unwanted children".

You can pick up a box of rubbers just about anywhere. And they do a better job of protecting from unwanted fatal diseases than doctor prescribed pills. And you conveniently forgot to mention that putting a baby up for adoption is a vialbe alternative. No, you just went and claimed a ruined life or an abortion. Do your kids know you think of them that way? They ruined your life because you couldn't handle being called names at the abortion clinic?

oh yea, that make sense. lets not allow teens to get birth control, but lets ruin her life when shes faced with an unwanted child, or call her names when she has to cross a protest line to get an abortion. i dont care what anyone says, teens are going to have sex, no matter what you preach to them. not my kid??? bull. i dont like republicans stance on this subject.
