A gathering Monday morning at a local high school was held to remember a teenager killed in a weekend crash. 17 year-old Jacob Amberger was a student at East Central High School in Dearborn County.

Amberger died after an accident Saturday on Route 46, northeast of Sunman. He was driving to school to catch a bus for a championship game soccer when the accident happened.

Students gathered Monday morning at the flag pole at East Central to pray for his family. "He was one of my closest guy friends and he was the nicest boy I ever met," said Shelby Duenne.

Also, killed in the crash was 27 year-old James Johnson, who worked as a tow truck driver in the area. On Sunday, his friends laid a cross and flowers at the accident scene to remember the friend they called "Bub." "I was with him the day it happened. We always had a good time. We were supposed to go to the Eric Church concert," said friend Tony Weiss. "You'll never meet anyone like him. He's the most outgoing person I've ever met in my whole life. He'd do anything for anybody," added Weiss.

Police said the accident happened about 3:30 p.m. at Indiana Route 46 and Lawrenceville Road. One car was traveling east on Route 46 and hit a car that was traveling west on 46 and was making a turn onto Lawrenceville Road.  A third car that was waiting on Lawrenceville Road to turn onto Route 46 was also struck, but no one in that car was injured.

We were lucky to know Jimmy when he was younger and went to grade school with my son. He was a great kid to have around. Always fun. Prayers to his family and the family of the other young man.

What about a tragedy and so very sad. Both people are so young. RIP to the deceased and their families.
