New hope in the search for a missing Fairfield college student.  Katelyn Markham went missing August 13.  Everything she had was left behind - except her red blackberry.  Saturday, search crews looking for clues found a similar phone off Lick Road in Fairfield.

A bright phone in a tumble of weeds, it's the closest thing to a clue anyone has found.  It was found off Lick Road and police entered the phone into evidence.  The search organizers tell us that the search team also found a phone battery, then a hoop earring and a black converse sneaker.  Katelyn's fiancee told us the phone definitely does not belong to her.  He says her phone had a green gem on top, this one does not.  Katelyn's fiancee also says she didn't wear hoop earrings and her black converse shoes were too small, so he doesn't believe any of the items were hers.

Search volunteer Brenda Kelley says, "I'm at least glad that somebody found something that could point in the right direction."

Victoria Chafin who organized Saturday's search says the area was targeted because it's secluded and spooky. Chafin says, "It's the type of road that you would maybe see teenagers go back into to find ghosts.  But it's definitely a road that not a lot of people go on, especially at night."

Katelyn's friends say every search comes with conflicted emotions. "It's hard to come up with a feeling because you want her to be okay, but at the same time we want to find her," says Chafin.

Katelyn's friends say they'll meet to search again Sunday, starting at 9 a.m. near Lick Road.

No mention of the body that was found last week that they thought was her, but later determined it wasn't. Who's body did they find?!?

I, for one, would like to thank Katelyn's fiancee for being as vocal as he has been throughout this entire situation. It takes a lot of courage to do that, whether or not it's for the benefit of someone that you love. I wish him the best and hope that Katelyn is found soon. Keep speaking. Point towards anyone that could possibly be involved. Help Katelyn be brought home soon.

Isn't it possible that this young woman met someone else and decided to just disappear to avoid all the problems she would face if she stayed. Women do foolish things. And yes, there is another woman missing, at least she was a couple of days ago. A black lady Elizabeth Freeman who lives on Cleveland Avenue in Avondale. She's been gone for several days, not heard from at all. Haven't heard much about her being missing but unless she came back home today, she is missing as well.

Speaking of equality, mchris, shouldn't we all have to pay the same income tax rate? (How off-topic is that?) If someone close to you goes missing, you will jump to near the front of the line as far as suspects go. Why? Cause it's a great, high-percentage bet.

@keenyw08: If you and the fiance want the rude comments to stop, then he should STFU. His comment that the cell phone and shoe weren't hers only prompts rude comments. Let the police make any statements. If they aren't hers, who do they belong to? Do we have another woman missing?

Kennyw08 the last time you commented on this site it was about the constitution (kennyw08 - 6/14/2011 9:25 PM 3 Votes Report User JH, you can't vote for something that's unconstitutional. The Constitution clearly states that EVERYONE has full equal rights and protections, and that includes gays and lesbians. It doesn't say that only certain people have full equal rights and protections. Prop 8 is unconstitutional, full equality is the law, get used to it...PERIOD!!) Boy how your tune changes when "your boy" is under the microscope.....

Guess what chatty? FINDING HER IS THE ONLY THING THAT MATTERS TO HIM!!! He IS glad that people are continuing to look for Katelyn and keeping the story alive! You people blaming him and suspecting him for Katelyn's disappearance REALLY NEED TO STOP! Enough is enough! Katelyn happens to be a good friend of mine from college, and I for one am SICK of constantly seeing this crap from you people! ENOUGH WITH THE RUDE COMMENTS!

You know what, if her fiance is truly innocent and only wants her to be found, he will be fine with the finger pointing at him because he will only be concerned with her coming home. He will not care what people are thinking but will instead be glad that people are looking & keeping this story alive. If he has nothing to worry about, this will not matter to him...only finding Katelyn will matter.

A lot of you are so quick to judge! It's sad that you just want to point fingers and blame a young man that is in distress over his fiance's disappearance. Just like Bill said, what if this happened to you?? Would you want people saying nasty things about you while you are searching day in and day out for the person you were about to start a new beginning with??? SAD!
