An Illinois father had to act fast after his expectant wife said there wasn't time to make it to the hospital.
Megan Martinez told her husband, Chad, to pull the car over because she could fell the baby's leg hanging out. Chad Martinez is an Illinois State Trooper.
The breech birth was just the beginning of a wild Friday night along the side of I-88 in Downers Grove, Illinois.
The baby wasn't breathing because her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck.
"At that point, immediately training just kicked in," said Chad Martinez, father. "I had to improvise by removing the mucous from the airway, and I actually had to do that by mouth."
Chad was able to get the newborn to breath.
All this happened as the mom was in the backseat with the couple's other daughter 21-month Ava.
An ambulance arrived to take the family to the hospital.
The Martinez's named their newborn Maci.
