Flames force a disabled woman to crawl from her apartment on her hands and knees in a desperate plea for help. She says all she could think of was helping neighbors.
The blaze broke out around 11:30 last night on Kuchle Drive in Walton. As Local 12 reporter Larry Davis shows us, the woman lost everything but helped saved lives.
Connie Moeller suffered second degree burns to her one hand after trying to put out the fire that broke out inside her Walton Commons Apartment. Leaving her wheelchair behind, Moeller crawled outside to knock on her neighbor's door to get them out.
Larry Coleman then ran through the complex alerting neighbors to the fire. A woman and her two children couldn't get out of their upstairs apartment and had to be rescued.
Today residents were back at the apartment building to assess the damage--some lost everything.
16 people were left homeless from the fire---all are being housed by the Red Cross. One person had to be treated for smoke inhalation.
A cause or damage estimate have not been determined.
