Crosstown Blood Donation Drive Kicks Off

GLENVIEW, IL - JANUARY 16: Phlebotomist Andrea Abbatte (R) monitors Lirio Romo as she donates blood at LifeSource Blood Services January 16, 2004 in Glenview, Illinois. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is calling for blood donations claiming the nation is facing a critical blood shortage. Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson says "If blood supplies do not immediately increase, patients, accident victims and those whose lives depend on regular transfusions are at risk for not getting the blood they need." Some hospitals have already canceled non-emergency surgeries. (Photo by Tim Boyle/Getty Images) (Tim Boyle, 2004 Getty Images)

A local blood donation center is asking the Tri-State, "Do you bleed blue or red?"

Hoxworth Blood Center is partnering up with Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati the weeks of December 3-8 and 10-15 for a Crosstown blood drive.

Xavier and UC fans will have a specific week they can donate at a Hoxworth neighborhood donor center in honor of their favorite team. A cheese coney to top off a blood donation? That just doesn't sound healthy for the donors.
