A clerk at a family owned grocery store in Lincoln Heights is out of the hospital after he was beaten and shot during a robbery Wednesday night.
Police say three men walked into Our Corner Store in the 900 block of Chester Road around 9 p.m. and shot the clerk in the neck. Amazingly, the man was able to call 911 himself and survived the attack. There were no customers inside.
Officer say the clerk told them the robbers ordered him to lay on the floor, then hit him in the back of the head with a gun. That's when the gun went off, shooting the clerk in the neck.
The victim, who's name has not been released, was treated and released from University Hospital. Officers have not released a description of the robbers.
