Lawrenceburg Police are investigating a shooting at an area gas station.
Police were called to the BP Station at U.S. 50 and Arch Street around 4:50 a.m. Monday morning not far from Hollywood Casino. Police tell Local 12 News Reporter Larry Davis that the clerk was shot in the leg during the robbery. The clerk was taken to University Hospital where he is in good condition. His name has not been released.
Investigators are looking for two men, one who robbed the store and shot the clerk and a getaway driver.
Police released photos of the robbery. One of the photos shows the clerk holding his leg after he'd been shot. Police say they are baffled as to why the clerk was shot. "There was no struggle."
A customer pulled up to the gas pumps just as the suspect and his getaway driver left the station. The customer followed the suspects' car down U.S. 50, and that's when he was mistakenly pulled over by a Greendale police officer.
The suspects' car then drove on down U.S. 50. Police believe they got on to I-275 and drove toward Ohio.
Police believe the suspects were in a dark-colored, early 90s model Chrysler New Yorker. If you can help find them, cash in by calling Crimestoppers at 352-3040.
