The man who has championed civil rights cases- and won millions of dollars in judgements from notorious hate groups, spoke at the Freedom Center this morning.
Morris Dees, one of the founders of the Southern Poverty Law Center was the key note speaker for the YWCA's Heart to Heart Racial Justice Breakfast.
Dees is best known for his civil rights lawsuits that have won millions in judgements from notorious hate including the Aryan Nations and the Ku Klux Klan.
Dees says the latest immigration issue involving illegal Latin immigrants, mirrors what the Irish went through in the 1800's.
"It replicates what we're seeing today it's anger out of fear, but the Irish Catholics in this country made a great contribution, and it took 105 years for one of their descendents to become President of the United States, and I think we'll see one day, maybe not in the too distant future a Hernandez or Garcia elected President of the United States, and it's something we should not fear."
Members of the hate groups Dees battles in court- protested his appearance this morning.
