A wild chase through the streets of Ripley County... all started with a homeowner defending their property with a gun.
A man broke into a house on County Road 50 West just before 4 this morning.
Batesville police say the resident was home when the break-in happened and held the suspect at gunpoint until police could arrive.
The suspect is identified as Carson Back.
Police handcuffed back and put him in the cruiser... but he broke free and stole the officer's car.
The chase found its way onto I-74... it ended when police used stop sticks and the cruiser's tires went flat at a parking lot near State Route 46.
Back was charged with several felonies and booked in the Ripley County Jail.
