A brain surgeon's carefully planned "surprise" proposal turned into bigger surprise for him.
Dr. Steve Carr couldn't find the diamond engagement ring he had buried in the beach Memorial Day weekend.
He had hoped to propose to Mary Naam while the pair dug in the sand on the beaches of Pelican Bay at Naples, Florida.
Carr recruited fellow beachgoers and resort workers to help find the ring.
After two hours, Naam suggested phoning a metal detecting expert.
Once the expert arrived, he found the ring in a couple of minutes.
Carr then popped the question, his girlfriend happily accepted and the two are now engaged to be married.
