Bartini's Cincinnati, a favorite hot spot of athletes, local politicians and business folk has closed its doors.

The martini lounge, which is located at the corner of sixth and Walnut downtown, posted the closing on its Facebook page late Sunday night.

The post reads in part  "...it is with great sadness that we are announcing that Bartini's closed its doors today. It has been great fun and we hope that you had as many great memories here as we did."

The post also mentions that an entirely new concept bar will be opening soon in the space.

No word on why the downtown nightclub closed, but Local 12 is currently investigating and will report details as they become available.

I ask; why do local banks/financing places continue to approve business plans and provide loans for bars and lounges. They just don't last.

It is because the folly trolley is still not running and the state has set it up for bars to take welfare cards !

No Amy, what really kills the bars downtown is that Cinti is more of a weekend town, and cannot sustain a significant number of bars. Great things are happening downtown despite surburban naysayers. I am way past the lounge age, but I put up with city headaches anyday versus the unbearable blandness of suburban life, where all the houses and people seem to try to look and act just alike...

Can't believe I am going to say this, but navrat is right in this case, but forgot to mention the exploding sewer lids, et al!

Patronage by those wishing to be seen will last only as long as the cameras are clicking and posting on Metromix. When the cameras stop posting the fame whores move on to the next Big Thing.

Navrat - guess you haven't been downtown recently and know not what you speak of.
