Firefighter Burned Rushing Into Burning Home Has Passed Away

Updated: Monday, October 28 2013, 08:08 AM EDT
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- An off-duty firefighter who rushed into a burning home because he thought a child was inside, has died.

Local 12 News told you about Arlie Hill back in September, who went by the nickname "Pooh".

Hill was a volunteer firefighter in McCreary County, Kentucky but was off-duty when he saw smoke coming from a neighbor's home. Hill and his brother-in-law thought a child was there, so hill rushed inside the home.

A flashover trapped Hill and left him nearly covered in second and third degree burns. He was rushed to UC Medical Center where he died Sunday from complications.

Dozens of local firefighters rallied around Hill, visiting him at the hospital. There is an outpouring of support on a Facebook page in hill's honor, called "Prayers for Pooh."  Click here for the link.
