Optimism on Ending Gov. Shutdown?

Updated: Sunday, October 13 2013, 10:46 AM EDT
WASHINGTON (CBS NEWS) -- Democrats say there's reason for optimism after lawmakers worked Saturday to try to end the partial government shutdown and avert a U.S. default.

This comes despite several shot down proposals from Capitol Hill.

The best chance for a breakthrough appears to be in the Senate.

Majority leader Harry Reid and minority leader Mitch McConnell held a meeting Saturday morning.

The administration says if no deal is reached to increase the nation's borrowing limit before next Thursday, the government will have no money to pay its bills.Optimism on Ending Gov. Shutdown?
