Thief Targets Man Known for Helping Drivers

Updated: Tuesday, December 3 2013, 12:49 PM EST
MONTGOMERY, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- A man known in the area for being a Good Samaritan finds out he's been targeted by a thief.

Someone broke into his truck overnight, stealing tools that the victim uses to help stranded drivers.

The victim who helps people anonymously asked us to refer to him only as, "Bob".

He started helping people about 10 years ago.  Bob is handy with vehicles and began helping motorists after spotting a woman and her small children stranded on the highway.

Sunday night, the businessman accidentally left his doors unlocked.  The thief or thieves had to get pretty close to his home in Montgomery to commit the crime.

His Ford F-350 was parked at his home on the end of a cul-de-sac.  Roughly $1,200 worth of tools were stolen from his truck.

Bob says he doesn't need the tools personally, but it bothers him that his acts of kindness will have to be put on hold.

The thief skipped over some items that were more expensive.  Bob thinks the person may have been trying to grab as much as they could carry and leave the area quickly.  If you have any information that can help police with the investigation, call our partners at Crimestoppers at 352-3040.
