KSP Issues Video Plea in Effort to Catch Officer's Killer

Updated: Friday, December 6 2013, 07:19 AM EST
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WKRC) -- Kentucky State Police put out a new call for help in the murder investigation of officer Jason Ellis with a YouTube video.

The Bardstown police officer, who grew up in the Tri-State, was ambushed on May 25 while on his way home from work. Investigators believe someone put branches into the road. Officer Ellis had stopped to move them out of the way, when he was shot to death.

Ellis is a graduate of Glen Este High School. The 33-year-old is survived by his wife and two sons.

In the video, state police Lt. Jeremy Thompson says whoever committed such a "heinous crime" needs to be apprehended. He asks for anyone with information to contact state police at the KSP Tip Line at (800) 222-5555 or email EllisCaseEtips@ky.gov.
