Star Wars: Force for Change - A message from J.J. Abrams
ABU DHABI, UAE (Derek Drake) -- In a new video released on the Star Wars official YouTube channel, director J.J. Abrams offers a once in a lifetime opportunity.
"We want to put YOU in the movie," Abrams said from the closed set in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Also unveiled in the video is the new charity initiative, "Star Wars: Force for Change." It's a venture between Disney and Lucasfilm.
From the charity's pool of donors, one winner will be chosen to appear in the movie. They will be made up and put in costume for a secret scene to be shot in London.
Of course, they'll also get to meet the cast and access the closed set at Pinewood Studios.
All money that is raised is said to benefit UNICEF's Innovation Labs to help children in need.
There are eligibility requirements for the role. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and must donate at least $18 to the charity by July 18 at the fundraising site Omaze.
Disney has already donated $1 to kick off the new venture.
